Certified Hospitality Revenue Manager (CHRM®)

A revenue manager faces daily the challenge to assess multiple historical, present and future data and make optimal decisions that will be perceived appealing and valuable to the targeted customers and eventually, maximise revenue for the organization.  Thus, it is of paramount importance that such a professional possesses the required work experience but also has the specialised training in order to be part of the elite hospitality professionals. 


The Certified Hospitality Revenue Manager (CHRM®) is considered globally as the most honourable professional certification in revenue management which validates you with up-to-date credentials and knowledge in this area. Achieving the CHRM® certification announces that you have a place among the best in your profession, are abreast of current trends and latest hospitality protocols; and serves as leverage in current and future career opportunities.   The CHRM® designation may be used on letterhead, business cards, and other writings.  


Upon completion of the training seminars you will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the revenue manager within the hospitality industry

  • Explore the quality, value and price interrelationships

  • Evaluate statistical information in terms of demand forecasting and planning

  • Consider and apply optimal online distribution and pricing strategies


This certificate is most suited for experienced or new marketing, sales, finance and revenue practitioners working in hotels, events and conventions, digital marketing tourism agencies, e-commerce and rooms division or those with relevant knowledge from other fields and wish to switch career in hospitality. Furthermore, this course applies also to professionals with management experience from other industries in marketing, sales, finance and revenue but they are considering to follow a similar career path in the hospitality industry.



Because individual backgrounds vary widely in the hospitality industry, applicants may pursue the CHRM® designation if currently employed in a position with the following qualifying responsibilities:

  • Fifty percent or more of the duties involve Revenue Management, including forecasting, analyzing inventories, rates and occupancy. Manage input of data and report generation. Manage block activity and monitor property management system. Manage and supervise reservations. 


Candidate Time in Position : 6-months, OR

  • One current AHLEI supervisor, management, department head, or executive certification eliminates time requirement 

  • Degree from an accredited academic institution eliminates time requirement

The CHRM® exam consists of 125 multiple-choice questions that must be answered within a three hour time period. All test questions are designed to test the candidate's mastery of various competencies derived from five key areas of knowledge in combination with on-the-job hospitality work experience. The key areas of testing are:  

  • The Lodging Industry

  • Forecasting and Planning

  • Strategies and Tactics

  • Statistical Analysis

  • E-Commerce and Online Distribution


Candidates must submit an application and meet the necessary prerequisites. All exams require that examinations be administered under the supervision of a proctor.
